Rwenzori Art Centre

Rwenzori Art Centre lies eleven kilometres north of Kasese in the foothills of Uganda’s impressive Rwenzori Mountains.

Supported by the Ruwenzori Sculpture Foundation, this rural centre for the arts was launched when three Ugandan craftsmen who trained at Pangolin Editions foundry in England returned home in 2008 to set up a small foundry, ten kilometres north of Kasese. It has since grown rapidly and the local team now boasts fifteen members.

The Foundation has funded further development of the centre, adding an award-winning, architect-designed gallery, artist's studios and a coffee bar. It regularly hosts residences and exchanges on site, encouraging dialogue and the sharing of skills and knowledge between Ugandan and UK artists.
